The testimony of the ongoing journey of the Long Distance Sponsorship Manager in Nepal. A mission that features ASIA NEPAL’s staff members, the representatives of the various schools in which the Long Distance Sponsorship project is active, but above all the Nepalese girls and children, including those of the 4 schools we built and inaugurated last December in Rasuwa.

Today February 2nd is the big day!

I wake up early, prepare the backpack and go to the office where Nabaraj and Debendra, one of the two drivers of the ASIA NEPAL team, are waiting for me. We head towards the Manasarovar School, where Ms. Bijaya and Mrs.Tsultrim, both President and co-founders of the school, are waiting for us. In fact, Bijaya gladly accepted to come with me and Nabaraj to visit the schools of Rasuwa: her experience in managing both a school and the Long Distance Sponsorship project will be invaluable during our meetings with the management committees of I bambini della scuola di Manasarovarthe four new schools. It is an immense joy to finally meet both her and Tsultrim in person!

I see them, I embrace them and it feels like I have known them forever … maybe because we talk almost every day via email, from thousands of kilometers away, and certainly also because they are extremely welcoming, kind and very sweet. Unfortunately, the greetings are quick: we have to leave!

The district of Rasuwa is located in the north of Katmandu, just over a hundred kilometers away, but there are about four hours of travel due to bad road conditions. On the way I look at the valley of Katmandu that moves behind us and in front of us only mountains, terracing, small sporadic villages, clean air …

We arrive at Kalikasthan, a small village in the district where ASIA has a small field office. We immediately get to work: we must be ready for tomorrow, for the first meeting with the schools in Saramthali: Dupcheshwori and Namuna!
