With the financial contribution of Caritas and its own funds, Asia has assisted the refugees from the Village Development Committee (VDC) in Haku and Dandagaun who escaped the devastation in the lower Rasuwa camps.
The landslides caused by the earthquake on 25 April 2015 and by the pre-monsoon rainfalls destroyed many villages in this region. Thus, the community became homeless and with no land to farm.
Initially, the survivors escaped the VDC and found shelter in an improvised camp along the Trisuli River between Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts.
The people who had lost everything received no food items kits (pots, dishes, water jerries), covers, bamboo (7308), camping stoves and gas cylinders (337), hygiene kits, provisional toilets, solar panels kits (77) and other items. The most useful intervention were the carpentry classes and the distribution of carpentry tools (53). This project marked the first step to give people the hope to start again.
