The elderly of the Tibetan Homes Foundation

The Tibetan Homes Foundation was founded in 1962 in the Mussorie, the Indian state of Uttaranchal Pradesh to accommodate the little orphans or the poorest children of the Tibetan community in India. Over the years, however, the centre was also directed to the homeless elderly or without a family: now there are three homes for elderly people from all Tibetan communities in India and the centre staff takes care of them by providing housing, heating and medical care.

The life of the elderly guests is calm, they are devoted to prayer gatherings in the common room or do gardening work, making their stay pleasant and colourful in the houses of the Tibetan Homes Foundation.

ASIA recognizes the fundamental role of the elderly in the education of new generations; that’s why we provide long distance support to 58 seniors, allowing them to live in a family and a decent environment, to maintain their habits and customs of the Tibetan cultural tradition and at the same time transmit them.
