In the heart of the Tibetan region of Kham, inhabited by the Khampa, an the ethnic group of brave warriors, the illiteracy rate is very high.
Many years ago the monk Khempo Sonam asked us for help and in 2011 we built a primary school in Derge, one of the few in East Tibet that teaches Tibetan.
Today the Khempo issues a warning: the school does not receive government subsidies and it is no longer able to provide for the basic needs of the students.
> SPONSOR A MONK
In Tibet there is a small monastery named Dzolung.
It was the residence of A-Yu Khadro, the yogini master of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, who died at the age of 115.
We risked to lose this important sacred place, that is why in 2012 we intervened and we built a new College of practice, to help monks to continue being the holders of the Spiritual Heritage of Tibet.
Today the survival of the monastery is once again in danger: monks have difficulty in procuring food and clothing and are likely to get ill because they have no more resources to warm up properly.
