CONTEXT


Following the 2015 earthquake, the spring used by the Phakel monastery suddenly dried up, probably due to hydrogeological disruption caused by the strong tremors, leaving the monks in a precarious hygiene situation. ASIA carried out a feasibility study in 2022, and having obtained the necessary funds to carry out the project, activities began in winter 2023.

 

OBJECTIVES


GENERAL OBJECTIVE/ IMPACT
Access to adequate drinking water to the local resident monks in Phakel of Makwanpur District

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES/OUTCOME
• To supply drinking water to 25 Households and improve their knowledge of hygiene and sanitation practices.
• To teach beneficiaries on off seasonal vegetable production technology.

ACTIVITIES


A1. Construction of drinking water for 25 Households

A5. Drip irrigation system establishment

A6. Establishment of 2 bamboo plastic tunnel houses for the vegetable farming

Direct: 50 monks of the Phakel monastery and approximately 2534 people belonging to the monastery
