WHERE
Myanmar, Mandalay Region, Kyaukse District, Townships of Kyaukse and Sintkaing
CONTEXT
The project is implemented in the Kyaukse District, in the Mandalay Region (Myanmar), in a context characterized by strong political instability, armed conflict and increasing socio-economic vulnerability of rural communities. In recent years, the country has been deeply affected by the military coup of 2021, which has aggravated the economic and food crisis, limiting access to services and income opportunities for farming families. In many rural areas, family agriculture remains the main source of livelihood, but it is often poorly diversified and vulnerable to the effects of climate change and to the limited availability of quality agricultural inputs. In this context, the project aims to strengthen food security and the resilience of local communities through the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, the establishment of family and community gardens, and the strengthening of farmers’ technical capacities, with particular attention to the inclusion of women and vulnerable groups.
OBJECTIVES
General objective:
To reduce the malnutrition rate in the Kyaukse District by 30% within three years after the end of the intervention, through the improvement of family agricultural production (both quantitatively and qualitatively), while also reducing poverty levels within the district.
