Context
In both rural and urban areas of Mongolia, many women face economic hardship and limited access to employment or training opportunities. This project is designed to support women’s economic and social inclusion by strengthening their skills and entrepreneurial capacities in traditional Mongolian textile crafts, such as tailoring, felt-making, and leatherwork.
Training will be delivered both in-person and through mobile workshops to reach remote communities. The initiative also includes the provision of modern equipment, the strengthening of two existing artisan cooperatives, and the opening of a retail outlet in Ulaanbaatar to showcase and sell the products.
To further promote women’s well-being and community engagement, the project will also offer educational sessions on hygiene and nutrition, as well as participation in national fairs and public events to help artisans connect, grow, and gain visibility.
Objectives
To improve the living conditions of vulnerable women in Mongolia by promoting their economic independence and social inclusion.
Specific Objective
To expand training and employment opportunities for women in the formal and informal textile craft sectors, especially in the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar and in the provinces of Uvurkhangai, Darkhan-Uul, and Bayan-Ölgii.
Expected Results
Women become key agents of social and economic change, gaining autonomy and the ability to contribute to their families’ income and community development.
Through skills development and participation in networks and public events, beneficiaries will access new opportunities and help stimulate local markets — including those linked to Mongolia’s growing tourism sector.
The project also encourages the social inclusion of minority groups such as the Tuva community, by enhancing and promoting their rich cultural heritage.

The PROSOLIDAR FOUNDATION – A NON-PROFIT ENTITY is a organisation established under the initiative of the National Fund of the Banking Sector for Projects of Solidarity – a non-profit entity from which the Foundation has inherited its cultural heritage and founding principles.
The PROSOLIDAR FOUNDATION is a secular, independent organisation recognised as a non-profit entity and active in both Italy and the rest of the world. It is the first and, as things stand today, still the only instance, even on the international level, of an organisation founded by the sectoral social partners and financed through “match-gifting”, meaning joint, equal contributions workers and employers. The contribution of each individual is equal to 6 euro a year.
Within the Foundation, all the union organisations of the banking sector are represented on a equal basis (through their national secretaries offices), as well as all the member banks of the Italian Banking Association, together with the Italian Banking Association itself.
